Explanatory notes


1. 對考察主題的基本認識:我們會提供部份資料,包括文字、圖片和影片,同學亦需要以不同途徑搜集相關材料。

2. 考察地點:我們會盡可能提供詳細資料,亦會連結到實景地圖Google EarthTM ,並提供考察地方各主要位置的照片,讓同學在網上進行模擬的事前考察。

3. 導引模式工作紙:同學按指定程序進行考察,亦有數據表讓同學輸入數據。考察前,可觀教師會有講解。另有《校本評核記分表》提供,教師可以評核學生的實驗有關作業能力。

4. 探究模式工作紙:同學按指定題目擬訂探究計劃。考察前,學生要匯報探究計劃書。另有《校本評核記分表》提供,教師可以評核學生的實驗有關作業能力。

5. 建議考察範疇:在時間、儀器、地點許可的情況下,同學可以進行的考察課題並沒有任何限制,我們只是提供一些可行的建議,同學並非務必跟隨,反而應深入討論思考,發揮創意,建立自己的探究題目。

6. 文獻搜尋:我們只提供部份參考書目,同學在初步擬訂探究題目後,可到圖書館及互聯網找尋和參考相關的文獻資料。這個步驟很重要,讓同學先了解前人從相關研究所獲得的經驗和知識。

7. 注意要點:同學宜小心理解,以免建立一個不設實際、行不通的探究題目。

8. 觀察與記錄:我們只提供相關基本概念和技巧,同學必須在制定探究題目後,擬出詳細考察步驟,準備好數據記錄表,這樣可增加考察時的效率。

9. 資料處理:我們特別加入一些數據處理的概念,與及一般圖表的用法,以協助同學更科學地處理資料和數據。


Contents of each Model are arranged in accordance with the procedure of a scientific investigation :

1. Basic knowledge of the investigation subject: We only provide part of the information in text, photos and movies. Students also need to search for the information from various sources.

2. The place of field investigation: We provide the information as detailed as we can. Links to Google EarthTM are provided. Photos of the key positions of the field site are also provided. Students virtually go to pre-trip on the internet.

3. Worksheets(Instructional approach): Students do field investigation according to assigned procedure, data sheets are also provided for data entry. Teacher from Ho Koon would give a briefing before field work. SBA marking sheet is provided to teachers for assessing students' ability of practical related task.

4. Worksheets(Investigatory approach): Students formulated investigation plan according to designated topic. Before field work, students have to present investigation plans. SBA marking sheet is provided to teachers for assessing students' ability of practical related task.

5. Suggested areas of investigation: There is no limitation to the topics of investigation so long as constraint by time availability, equipment availability and the field site, have been taken into account. This web site only provides some possible areas of investigation. There is no compulsion to follow these suggestions. Students are encouraged to discuss and think in depth and creatively, then formulate their own topics of investigation.

6. Literature searching: We only provide lists of reference books. After a preliminary topic of investigation is formulated, students may go to the library and internet to look for relevant literature. This step is very important, which provides previous relevant experience and knowledge.

7. Points to note: Students should be conscious of this part, and avoid formulating an unrealistic and impractical investigation topic.

8. Observing and recording: We only provide basic concepts and skills. After the investigation topic is confirmed, students should prepare a plan containing detailed procedures as well as data recording sheets. These can improve the efficiency of field work.

9. Dealing with data: In order to assist students to analyze data scientifically, concepts of data processing as well as how different charts are used, are also added.
